SDUT Attended the Ninth Nishan Forum on the World Civilization

The 9th Nishan Forum on the World Civilization was held in Qufu - the hometown of Confucius - Shandong province from September 26th to 28th, 2023. SU Shoubo (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SDUT), was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the forum, the Nishan Forum on Classical Civilization, and the Nishan Chinese-Foreign University Forum, and jointly inaugurated the Nishan Institute of World Classical Civilization.


The Nishan Forum on Classical Civilization, with the theme of “Learning from the Past to Understand the Present: Contemporary Value of Classical Civilization”, is an important sub-event under the framework of the ninth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations. Jointly organized by the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, the Nishan Confucian Studies Center, Qufu Normal University, Shandong Normal University, Shandong University of Technology and the Jining Municipal People’s Government, the forum consists of a main forum and four parallel sessions. As one of the organizers, Qi Culture Research Institute, School of Literature and Journalism, School of Law, and Lutai School of Textile and Apparel of SDUT have invited 11 well-known experts and scholars from both China and abroad to participate in the forum through online videos, conference papers, or offline presentations. These experts and scholars include JING Tiankui (Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Vice Director of the Chinese Academy of Social Politics and Law, counsellor to the Chinese Sociological Association, and researcher at the Institute of Sociology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), Elena Avramidou (UNESCO Chair Professor at the Ionian University in Greece), PU Xian-gui (Professor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Soonchunhyang University in South Korea), and CUI Bing-gui (Professor of theDepartment of Chinese Language and Literature at Andong National University in South Korea). The sub sessions were presided over by GONG Yueguo and the other three Qi cultural experts from the Qi Culture Research Institute. They submitted academic papers for conference, and compiled a collection of academic papers for the forum.


The Nishan Chinese-Foreign University Forum, with the theme of “Responsibilities and Missions of Universities and Common Values of All Mankind” is hosted by Shandong Provincial Education Department and the Nishan Confucian Studies Center. It is one of the sub events of the 9th Nishan Forum on the World Civilization. Renowned presidents, vice presidents, and experts and scholars from 10 countries, including China, Cuba, the United States, Russia, Germany, Australia, Greece, France, Malaysia, and South Korea, gathered together to share wisdom, gather consensus, discuss university governance, and explore the responsibilities and missions of universities in the new era in building a community with a shared future for mankind and realizing common values for all mankind.  

It is reported that the 9th Nishan Forum on the World Civilization, with the theme of “Common Values of All Mankind and a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind - Strengthening Civilization Exchange, Mutual Learning, and Responding to Global Challenges”, highlights the promotion of civilization exchange, inheritance, and innovation. It consists of a main forum, 13 parallel sub sessions, and a series of discussion and exchange activities. This forum attracted 330 foreign representatives and more than 1,000 domestic and foreign experts and scholars.
