SDUT held the periodic qualification assessment meeting of the doctor’s degree program of mechanical engineering through both online and offline channels in the conference room on the ninth floor in Hongyuan office building in December 23th. Li Yuxia, president of SDUT attended and delivered a speech. Directors of Graduate Affairs Office, leaders of School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Transportation and Vehicle Engineering, academic leaders, representatives of students and teachers participated in the meeting.
The panel of experts of this assessment consisted of Zhang Weihong, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Northwestern Polytechnical University; Wang Shilong, professor of Chongqing University; Liu Zhifeng, professor of Hefei University of Technology; Wang Tongmin, professor of Dalian University of Technology; Mei Xuesong, professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University; Zhang Lijun, professor of Tongji University; Xi junqiang, professor of Beijing Institute of Technology; Zhou Xiaoqin, professor of Jilin University; Duan Ji’an, professor of Central South University; Li Guoxiu, professor of Beijing Jiaotong University; Peng Yan, professor of Yanshan University; Wan Yi, professor of Shandong University.
On behalf of SDUT, Li Yuxia extended a warm welcome to the expert group and gave a brief introduction of university and School of Mechanical Engineering. She made the following statement: The construction of degree programs is a carrier and an important part to the disciplinary development. The assessment work of degree program is not only a major test for university’s degree program building, but also a significant opportunity for promoting the level of the degree program and the quality of talent cultivation. The mechanical engineering discipline has achieved some results after several years of continuous strengthening construction but it still has some weaknesses. It would be appreciated if all experts can put forward valuable suggestions and give guidance to further upgrade the level of the discipline, so that the university’s quality of postgraduate education, core competence of discipline, and the ability to serve economic and social development will continuously improve. The university will earnestly sort out the way of development according to the expert opinions, highlight the cultural construction and characteristic development, and comprehensively improve the quality of talent training and discipline level.
Directors of School of Mechanical Engineering made a report to the expert group on the introduction of the doctor’s degree program from several aspects, including its basic information, goals and standards, basic conditions, talent cultivation, specialties and advantages, deficiencies and improved plans. The expert group listened to the report, had a discussion with teachers and students, visited and inspected the laboratory, and consulted the references.
The panel of experts agreed that the SDUT’s doctor’s degree program of the first-level discipline of mechanical engineering closely revolved around the needs of national and local economic development, made notable progress in the national fifth round of discipline evaluation, achieved remarkable results in talent training, and unanimously agreed to pass the qualification assessment.
