Shandong University of Technology attaches great importance to college campus culture construction. With the constant increase of the consciousness, responsibility, and sense of mission in cultural construction, the university has adopted measures to carry out its goal of educating the students by culture and nourishing the university in a cultural environment at the level of material culture, institutional culture, and spiritual culture. These measures have laid a solid cultural foundation in cultivating high quality talents and constructing a high-level university.

    The university launched the project of campus cultural construction and as a result has established the motto, the anthem and the badge. It has initiated the “Six Major Topics” activities and students honesty education; has requested more than 100 scholars and experts to recommend a book-list for the students to read and has invited cultural celebrities to give lectures on various topics; has conducted the education of university faculty professional ethics, etc. In a sense, spiritual culture construction has become the momentum and source in promoting the university's teaching and research level, in achieving the university's characteristics, and in convening the mental effort of the faculty.

    Keeping the need of campus cultural construction in mind, the university continuously examines and explores institutional innovation and perfection and has amended its regulations according to the requirements of the human-orientated concept and standards of lean management. A preliminary institutional environment, which is both rigid and loose, has been established at the base of the human-oriented concept.

    The university focuses on projecting the cultural content in campus infrastructure construction and great efforts had been exerted on the campus beautification and afforestation endeavors. So far the university has completed the construction of multiple humanistic sceneries and cultural facilities, such as the round-island man-made lake, the artificial river, the central scenic avenue, the college student art plaza, and other theme arboretums. A highly ecological, forested, digitized, and humanized modern campus and a most suitable physical environment for studying and living had been formulated.
