On March 27th, 2018, a visiting delegation headed by Dr. Anthony Petrie, a deputy dean of the Missouri University of Science and Technology of the United States, was well received by Prof. YI Yuchen, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT.
In the morning, Prof. YI Yuchen accompanied the visiting delegation to the University Student Affairs Center and the “Dahonglu” Maker-Space and the foreign visitors had shown their interests and deep concern for SDUT students’ achievements in student affair service and student innovation and entrepreneurship.
In the afternoon, Prof. YI Yuchen held friendly talks with the delegation on behalf of SDUT. The meeting had been attended by Prof. LAN Yubin, Dean of the School of Agricultural Engineering and Food Science,and the special assistant to president of SDUT, and other representatives from Development Planning Office, Academic Affairs Office, International Cooperation Section of the Office of the Exchange and Zhonglian-daen International Institution of Scientific Research and Information.
During the talks, both sides introduced their respective dominant disciplines and discussed the purposes, significance, and directions of cooperation and exchange between them. They reached an agreement on the signing of a memorandum of cooperation and the establishment of a friendly and cooperative relationship between the two schools. It was agreed that the exchange activities between students and teachers should be carried out on this basis. Exchanging projects and joint training of graduate students (2+2 and 3+1 programs) would gradually promote substantive cooperation and exchange between two universities.
Missouri University of Science and Technology, founded in 1870, formerly known as the Missouri Mining Institute, is a comprehensive public polytechnic university. It has more than 30 majors in the programs of undergraduate, master and doctoral degrees. Mining and metallurgy, civil engineering, and materials are their leading majors. This university had been ranked 45th in the Best Colleges of 2009 in the United States, and 12th in all public universities, and ranked 1st in the Midwest and 12th in the nation in the Forbes College Wealth Rankings”. According to academic analysis data from January 2008, this university had been ranked one of the top 20 scientific, technical, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) research universities.
