On the morning of April 23rd, the opening ceremony of the Scientific Culture and Arts Festival (2023) and the launching ceremony of the Campus Reading Festival of “New Era Reading, Literary SDUT” were held in the North Square of Run Run Library.
YANG Yun, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, CUI Huanyong and CHEN Jing, members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice presidents of SDUT, LI Xinjun, secretary of the Party Committee and general manager of Zibo Unicom, attended the ceremony. Leaders of relevant departments, schools and representatives of teachers and students participated in the ceremony.
YANG Yun made an opening speech. He pointed out that the Scientific Culture and Arts Festival is an important carrier for the implementation of the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral character and is a comprehensive demonstration of scientific research, culture and art, which is of great significance for enhancing the cultural connotation of the university, improving the scientific and technological and humanistic literacy of teachers and students, and uniting and mobilizing teachers and students to assist in the reform and development of SDUT. He emphasized that we should take this festival as an opportunity to gather strength and forge ahead, continuously improve the quality of teaching and the soft power of campus culture, promote the prosperity of campus culture, and contribute wisdom and strength to the construction of a high-level teaching and research university with distinctive characteristics.
At the ceremony, representatives of teachers and students demonstrated their reading under the title of “Seeing China’s Spring on the Winter Wheat Seedlings”; the head of the library introduced the basic situation of “New Era Reading, Literary SDUT” Campus Reading Festival; the leaders and guests presented awards to the “Reading Stars” of SDUT. YANG Yun, CUI Huanyong, CHEN Jing, and LI Xinjun jointly launched the 2023 Scientific Culture and Arts Festival.
This year’s Scientific Culture and Arts Festival was divided into three chapters, including “Wisdom to the Future”, “Jixia Glamour” and “Youthful Dreaming”. Thirteen high-quality activities would be held, such as Campus Top Ten Singers Competition, “My Youth, My League” the Communist Youth League Branches Competition, Jixia Film Festival, and “Yanzi Cup” Theme Debate. These activities aimed to guide teachers, students, and staff to practice love and dedication, strengthen responsibility, and contribute wisdom and strength to the breakthrough in constructing a high-level teaching and research university with distinctive features. Campus Reading Festival of “New Era of Reading, Literary SDUT” includes “Palm Quiz”, “Reading Style”, “Resource Sharing”, “Literacy Enhancement” and “Reading Essay” five sections, aiming to build a platform and provide resources for teachers and students to develop good reading habits, guide teachers and students to love reading, read good books, and excel in reading so as to promote high-quality development of SDUT actively.
