Recently, the Department of Education of Shandong Province released the list of international cooperation joint laboratories of colleges and universities in Shandong Province. The “Smart Farm Technology International Cooperation Joint Laboratory” and “Marine Microbial Cell Factory International Cooperation Joint Laboratory” declared by the College of Agricultural Engineering and Food Science, and the “Sino-German Decentralized Flexible Energy System International Cooperation Joint Laboratory” declared by School of Transportation and Vehicle Engineering were successfully approved.
The construction of the “Smart Farm Technology International Cooperation Joint Laboratory” aims to overcome the bottleneck scientific problems in the field of smart farms, relying on the scientific research advantages as well as exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in agricultural engineering and smart agriculture, and promote international exchanges, scientific research and talent training in the field of agricultural artificial intelligence through the joint efforts of internationally renowned universities and research institutions in Britain, France, Russia, Georgia and other countries to advance the integrated application, achievement transformation, and demonstration promotion of smart farm technology.
The construction of “Marine Microbial Cell Factory International Cooperation Joint Laboratory” is based on the discipline of Agricultural Engineering and the existing Marine Microbial International Cooperation Joint Laboratory at the university level, on the basis of cooperation with universities and scientific research institutions in Spain, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries in the early stage, adopts the “one to many” multi-party cooperation approach, obtains original scientific research achievements, and enhances the international influence in the field of functional lipids to cultivate high-quality and innovative talents.
The construction of the “Sino-German Decentralized Flexible Energy System International Cooperation Joint Laboratory” targets to leverage the advantages of long-term cooperation and research on the basic theory and application technology of decentralized and low-grade energy between China and Germany, promote the green and sustainable development of decentralized and low-grade energy, cultivate young talents, leading talents, and innovative teams with international perspectives to form an important base for high-level international cooperation between China and Germany.
It is reported that a total of 48 international cooperation joint laboratories in universities across the Shandong province have been approved for construction in this batch. The laboratories focus on establishing a new model of institution-to-institution international cooperation and promoting substantive, high-level, and sustainable international scientific and technological cooperation among universities.
