From August 14th to 18th, SDUT held the Third Plenary (Expanded) Meeting of the 4th CPC Committee and the 2023 Summer Work Seminar at the Arts Center Auditorium.
Leaders of SDUT, including HU Xingyu, LI Yuxia, DENG Changliang, YANG Yun, SU Shoubo, NIE Faliang, CHEN Shengwei, CUI Huanyong, CONG Hailin, CHEN Jing, MA Guosheng, LIU Xingqing, LYU Yanping, the special assistants to the president, all middle-level cadres, members of the Academic Committee of SDUT, the directors of the Faculty Committee andthe assistants of the academic schools (offices, museums), attended the meeting.
HU Xingyu, secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, made a speech on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of SDUT, briefed the work done in the first half of the year, analyzed the existing problems, pointed out the direction of the next stage, and informed SDUT’s performance assessment of high-quality development of Shandong provincial undergraduate colleges and universities in 2022.
HU Xingyu put forward eight aspects of requirements for the second half of the year and the future work.
First, we should focus on Party building to provide a fundamental guarantee for high-quality development. It is necessary to highlight the main direction of our work and promote the deep integration of Party building and central task; to highlight our brand features and promote Party building; to highlight the key points of our work and implement them one by one; to highlight anti-corruption and advocate integrity, and guide Party members and cadres to respect, fear and observe the bottom line; to highlight the publicity and expand the influence of SDUT.
Second, we must focus on reform to provide impetus for high-quality development. We should seek vitality and impetus from reform and mobilize the initiative all sectors. To deepen reform, we must adhere to five principles: firstly, we should further emphasize the problem-oriented idea. Secondly, we should further highlight systematic thinking. Third, we should further advance grassroots exploration. Fourth, we should further reinforce the top-level design. Fifth, we should be further foresighted.
Third, we must pay much attention to professionals to provide support for high-quality development. It is necessary to intensify our efforts to accurately introduce, cultivate and use the talents and professionals. We should create a better environment where professionals are respected, tolerated, cultivated, and serve them well.
Fourth, we should focus on cadres and provide career guidance for high-quality development. It is necessary to cultivate a team of cadres with positive thinking, profession, capability, righteous character and high quality to lead the development of SDUT.
Fifth, we should focus on planning and provide a strong premise for high-quality development. It is necessary to adhere to the “four aspects”, and focus on the discipline planning, scientific research platform construction, laboratory construction, team construction and project results declaration, and promote scientific research to a higher level.
Sixth, we should focus on implementing and providing key measures for high-quality development. It is necessary to strictly follow the measures issued by the Party Committee of SDUT on further strengthening the implementation of these measures.
Seventh, we must focus on cooperation to provide effective ways for high-quality development. It is necessary to advance overall cooperation with governments, enterprises, research institutes and universities. Academic schools should combine their industry and discipline to deepen integration and development with society.
Eighth, we should focus on culture and provide an active environment for high-quality development. It is necessary to continuously increase the use of cultural factors to create a better atmosphere for the high-quality development of SDUT.
President LI Yuxia summarized the work done in this summer vacation, analyzed the main problems, and deployed the key tasks in the second half of the year. She stressed that during the new semester, the following aspects of work should be focused on: First, we should focus on the application of doctoral degree programs as the top priority. Second, we should steadily improve education and teaching, make detailed preparations for the audit and evaluation of undergraduate education and teaching, get ready to apply for education and teaching programs and awards of all levels and various types, the construction of platforms, as well as the national and provincial first-class undergraduate courses. Third, we should concentrate on the introduction and cultivation of professionals by planning ahead and organizing meticulously, thus striving to make new breakthroughs in the declaration of talent projects. Fourth, we should solidly carry out scientific research and innovation, strengthen organized scientific research to improve project success rates; we will actively lead or participate in the declaration of major projects and platforms, promote the transformation of scientific research results in an organized way, trying to achieve group transformation. Fifth, we should further promote social service, promote the implementation of cooperation agreements, promote the integration of schools and cities, and start the preparatory work for the 70th anniversary of SDUT. Sixth, according to the focus in our work, we should steadily promote student enrollment and employment, as well as the work of the youth league; we will ensure the logistical support and formulate major logistics reform plans to improve service quality. Seventh, we should build a “big publicity” pattern, focus on such key aspects as discipline construction, and teaching and research, intensify our efforts in publicity, and work together to strengthen the positive mainstream of public opinions and social reputation.
Eight experts, including LI Hongfei, a member of the Standing Committee and vice president of Central China Normal University, ZHAO Juming, a professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, director and executive director of China Association of Higher Education, and WU Daguang, the former vice president of Xiamen University, were invited. Focusing on cutting-edge topics such as digitalization helping education and teaching reform and teaching ability improvement, “student-centered” principle in teaching reform, as well as high-quality development and transformation of modern universities, they made enlightening lectures. And the faculties watched the integrity education film in this seminar. LI Yuxia, president of SDUT, DENG Changliang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, NIE Faliang, a member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of SDUT, inspector of Shandong Provincial Supervision Committee in SDUT, CHEN Shengwei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of SDUT, presided over the seminar.
At the seminar, the heads of 22 academic schools and 30 departments made exchanges and speeches, respectively, summarized the progress in the first half of the year and the summer vacation, analyzed the outstanding problems, and introduced the plan for the second half of the year.
