SDUT Sets New Record in NSSFC Projects of the Year 2024

Recently, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences unveiled the list of annual projects approved by the National Social Science Fund (NSSFC) for the year 2024. SDUT has been approved a total of 27 projects, among which there is 1 key project, 20 general projects and 6 youth projects. The number of approved projects ranks first among universities affiliated to Shandong province. According to statistics from CINGTA, SDUT ranks 47th among universities in mainland for the total of the projects, reaching a new historical high once again.

The 27 approved projects covered 12 disciplines, making 2024 the year with the broadest distribution of approved disciplines over the years. Among them, diciplines like Applied Economics, Management, and Library and Information Science were approved 5 projects repectively; diciplines like Chinese Literature, Ethnology, and Religion were approved 2 repectively; and diciplines like Marxism Leninism Science and Society, Philosophy, Sociology, Sports, Linguistics, and Chinese History were approved 1 repectively. The aprroved projects cover applied research projects that serve the national strategies in aspects such as new growth drivers, artificial intelligence, future industries and food security, and also cover basic research projects on inheriting and developing the outstanding traditional Chinese culture and strengthening the sense of community for the Chinese nation. They are characterized by focusing on major theoretical and practical issues and adhereing to the main direction and attaching equal importance to basic research and applied research.

In terms of the working units winning approved projects, a total of 9 were involved, marking the highest number in a single year over the past few years. Among them, Business School won 8 projects, School of Economics 6, School of Literature and Journalism and Communication 3, School of Law has 3, both of School of Marxism and School of Information Management won 2, and School of Foreign Languages, School of Physical Education and Qi Culture Research Institute won 1 respectively.  

The data released by the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences showed that the NSFCC funded 392 key projects, 2757 general projects and 1989 youth projects in 2024.
