From October 16th to 24th, a delegation of four led by President LI Yuxia visited Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana (CUJAE), Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas (UCLV), Wayne State University (WSU), University of California, and Davis campus (UC Davis). The visits aimed to exchange views on the cooperation and communication and thus sign inter-university communication and cooperation agreements.
At CUJAE, President LI Yuxia met with Vice-Chancellor Daniel Alfonso Robaina and discussed international scientific research cooperation in such areas as Laser High-end Manufacturing, Smart Grid System, Bigdata, Artificial Intelligence. They aimed to promote cooperation in joint cultivation of post-doc, student exchange , mutual visits of teachers and application of intergovernmental cooperation projects, and they have reached a preliminary cooperation intention. The delegation held meetings with heads of School of Electrical Engineering, Raphael Pomares Tabares and School of Computer Science, Raisa Socorro Llanes, and talked about further details for cooperation. The delegation also paid visits to the ICB and communicated with professionals in related fields such as Smart Grid System, Bigdata and Artificial Intelligence.
In UCLV, President LI Yuxia and Chancellor Luis Oliveira changed views on long-term and short-term Student Exchange, Energy and Energy Storage projects and application for the establishment of Confucius Institute. Both sides discussed the specific requirements for applying for the Confucius Institute and signed Agreement on the Confucius Institute.
In WSU, the delegation met with Laurie Krabo, the Provost and Senior Executive Vice President, and Dr. Xiu Huajing, Associate Vice President. Both sides exchanged views on “3+2” Cultivation Mode and long-term and short-term Teachers Exchange Programs and thus signed Cooperative Agreement. The delegation also negotiated and reached consensus with Ali Abomaly, Head of the School of Engineering, and Virginia Frank Kleister, Head of the School of Business on such affairs as “4+1” Integrated Undergraduate-graduate Program, joint cultivation of graduates, training of young teachers, research cooperation and so on.
In UC Davis, the delegation met with Sarah Olsen, Director of Global Partnership to review the cooperations in students exchange and research cooperation since 2010. Views were exchanged on three-month or longer joint training programs for postgraduate students, as well as talent development for young teachers, and thus a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement were signed. The delegation held a discussion with Eva Annelie Adams, the Associate Dean of International and Academic Affairs, regarding continuous education and training programs. Both sides reached a preliminary intention on cooperation for student and faculty exchange programs.
During the visit, the delegation paid a visit to some teachers and alumni who were studying or working abroad. Besides, they also visited universities such as New York University and Columbia University to communicate with school leaders, scholars, administrators, teachers and students. In addition, they introduced SDUT, including advantageous disciplines, majors, incentive and guarantee policies, aiming to explore the potentials of cooperation in education, scientific research innovation, talent cultivation and teacher training.
