On the 2nd of December, SDUT held High-Level Foreign Experts’ Tour of Shandong and Conference of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology at Qisheng Hotel, jointly sponsored by ZiBo Science and Technology Bureau.
Those present at the opening ceremony included more than 30 high-level scholars from home and abroad, among whom were Seeram Ramakrishna (Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), and Academician of the Academy of Engineering (Singapore)), Professor Mohd Hafis Bin Sulaiman (University Putra Malaysia), Professor Su-Jin Kim (Gyeongsang National University in South Korea), Qiu Jianrong (Changjiang Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang University), and Yan Liang (Changjiang Distinguished Professor at Beihang University, also called Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), and ZHU Enyuan (member of the Party group and Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of Shandong Province), LI Xinsheng (member of the Standing Committee of Zibo Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor), LI Yuxia (President of SDUT), SU Shoubo (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee), CUI Huanyong (member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SDUT), and XIONG Xin (Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of ZiBo Science and Technology Bureau). The conference was hosted by Su Shoubo.
At the opening ceremony, LI Yuxia, LI Xinsheng, Seeram Ramakrishna and ZHU Enyuan delivered a speech respectively.
On behalf of SDUT, LI Yuxia expressed her appreciation for the presence of all the experts and guests, gave an overview of SDUT. She said that in recent years, SDUT has closely adhered to Manufacturing Powerhouse Strategy and has closely aligned with the construction of Shandong into a strong manufacturing province and the high-quality development of the regional economy and society. With modern agricultural equipment as a key development area, SDUT has further promoted the construction of discipline clusters in intelligent manufacturing and modern agricultural equipment, actively contributing to the establishment of a modern manufacturing system with Shandong characteristics. According to President Li, SDUT takes this conference as a chance to continuously strengthen exchanges and cooperation with experts and scholars in intelligent manufacturing technology from both home and abroad, to enhance its international education and scientific research innovation so as to contribute to accelerating the development of new-quality productive forces and the construction of a manufacturing powerhouse.
On behalf of Zibo Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People's Government of Zibo Municipality, Li Xinsheng expressed his congratulations on the holding of the conference. He stated that Zibo has always adhered to talent empowerment for high-quality development of industry, and was committed to comprehensively attracting, nurturing, and utilizing talents, ensuring that more foreign talents who aspire to develop in Zibo can stay, be well-utilized, and have opportunities for mobility. And he hoped that experts from both home and abroad would offer more insightful opinions for the development of Zibo, provide more professional guidance for the transformation and upgrading of Zibo enterprises, and enable more promising projects to take root, blossom, and bear fruit in Zibo.
On behalf of High-Level Foreign Experts, Seeram Ramakrishna expressed his gratitude for the platform of exchange and cooperation provided by this conference for experts and scholars from both home and abroad in the field of intelligent manufacturing technology, and hoped that in the future, the foreign experts could strengthen close cooperation with Shandong Province and jointly promote technological solutions and the development of innovation platforms.
ZHU Enyuan indicated that in recent years, the provincial Party Committee and provincial government have consistently placed scientific and technological innovation at the core, focusing their efforts on promoting the construction of a technology-strong province, and have established a comprehensive policy system covering top foreign talents, leading talents, and young talents. And he hoped that experts attending the event would seize this opportunity to strengthen scientific and technological exchanges and deepen industrial cooperation with Shandong.
CUI Huanyong and LU Shiqiang, general manager of the Research and Development Center and deputy general manager of Bodor Laser Company Limited, jointly unveiled the Shandong Engineering Research Center for the Manufacturing and Application of Advanced Laser High-end Intelligence.

After the opening ceremony, the conference invited Seeram Ramakrishna, QIU Jianrong, and Su-Jin Kim to deliver keynote speeches; High-level foreign experts from Singapore, South Korea, Russia, and other countries gave reports on topics such as the new generation of microfluidic chip technology, the new generation of chips with metasurface structures, the application of novel infrared chalcogenide glass materials, special processing and intelligent manufacturing systems, and laser cladding three-dimensional additive manufacturing technology.
During the conference, experts, scholars, and representatives from related enterprises participated in a technical exchange and negotiation session on intelligent manufacturing. Some experts and scholars visited SDUT's Laser Advanced Manufacturing Research Center for a tour, during which academic exchanges were made. They also went to high technology enterprises and parks in Zibo, such as Shandong Huacheng Group Company Limited, for consultations and negotiations to address the actual needs of the enterprises.
With the theme of Empowering with Scientific and Technological Innovation, Intelligent Manufacturing Leading the Future, this conference focused on the deep integration of the education chain, talent chain, industry chain, and innovation chain. It attracted more than 200 experts, scholars, international students, doctoral candidates, and enterprise representatives from universities, research institutes, and enterprises from home and abroad.
