From Dec. 8 to 11, GUO Qingbing, member of the Standing Committee of SDUT Party Committee and Vice President, together with three other members embarked a visit to German universities and research institutions. The delegation visited the Technical University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin, the Institute for Advanced Studies at TU Dresden, the CRRC Sino-German Rail Transit Technology (Dresden) Joint R&D Center, and the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, and discussed relevant cooperation and exchanges and signed an inter-university cooperation agreement.

At the Technical University of Berlin, GUO Qingbing and Professor Frank Behrendt, member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering and President of the TU Berlin, engaged in an in-depth exchange on the achievements of their joint international cooperation laboratory. The two sides reached a significant consensus on such issues as signing a Memorandum of Cooperation and launching joint talent cultivation programs in mechanical engineering and transportation engineering.

During the delegation’s visit to the Faculty of Language, Literature and Humanities at Humboldt University of Berlin, the two sides discussed launching joint high-level talent cultivation programs in fields such as psycholinguistics. They also shared experiences on interdisciplinary research cooperation and agreed to organize online exchange sessions in due course to promote joint international scientific research.

At the Institute for Advanced Studies at TU Dresden, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the joint talent cultivation agreement, aligning on training programs, credit recognition, and quality assurance. Additionally, they explored the personnel exchanges and joint international research in fields including mechanical engineering, transportation engineering, mechatronics, and chemical engineering.

At the CRRC Sino-German Rail Transit Technology (Dresden) Joint R&D Center, the two sides discussed cooperation on overseas internship programs for students and held preliminary discussions on the establishment of overseas practical training bases and talent recruitment bases. They also explored the construction of an interdisciplinary international joint research platform focusing on mechanical engineering and transportation engineering.

At the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, GUO Qingbing signed the “Agreement on the Establishment of the Sino-German Joint International Cooperation Laboratory for Intelligent Science and Technology Innovation Foresight” with Professor Bernhard Keimer, a world-renowned physicist and Director of the institute. In addition, they intended to promote mutual scholar visits and cooperative research in fields including condensed matter physics, chemistry, complex materials and nanoscience.

During their stay in Germany, the delegation also visited some of the SDUT’s teachers, alumni, and young talents, who are currently on academic visits or working abroad. They held in-depth discussions on the SDUT’s overall development plan, talent recruitment, and policy support to broaden multidisciplinary exchange and cooperation.
