2025-12-26

From December 17 to 20, an 18-member joint accreditation panel from the Ministry of Education (MOE) visited Shandong University of Technology (SDUT) to conduct an on-site inspection of the Physics, Physical Education, and Musicology programs. The delegation was led by Professor LI Guangping (Northeast Normal University), head of the joint and Physics accreditation groups; Professor WANG Qingjun (Nanjing Normal University), head of the Physical Education group; and Professor ZHANG Shunli (Henan Normal University), head of the Musicology group. During the four-day visit, the experts engaged in a comprehensive evaluation to ensure the programs meet national standards for professional teacher education.

On the morning of December 18, the Opening Ceremony for the accreditation inspection was held in the conference room of the Xingyuan Hotel. Attendees included the members of the expert panel; BO Cunxu, Vice President and Party Committee Member of the Shandong Provincial Institute of Educational Sciences; and university leaders LI Yuxia, GUO Qingbing, CHEN Shengwei, CHEN Jing, and ZHANG Shouheng. The first phase of the meeting was presided over by CHEN Shengwei, Vice President and Standing Committee Member of the University Party Committee.

President LI Yuxia delivered a welcoming address, extending her gratitude to the expert group for their presence and guidance. She emphasized that the university would leverage this accreditation as a catalyst to strengthen teacher-training programs and advance high-quality teacher education. Furthermore, she noted that these efforts would support SDUT’s goal of becoming a high-level modern university while making significant contributions to the development of regional basic education.

BO Cunxu noted that the accreditation of teacher-training majors faces new challenges stemming from broader social and educational shifts. He emphasized the necessity of achieving a high-level transformation that aligns with the national strategy of building a “Leading Country in Education” and adapts to shifting demographic trends. These factors present new mandates for teacher education in Shandong Province, requiring comprehensive upgrades and reforms across multiple dimensions, including talent cultivation goals and curriculum structures.

CHEN Shengwei delivered a report titled “Upholding the Original Mission of Teacher Education, Cultivating Outstanding Teachers.” He provided a detailed overview of the history and current status of teacher education at SDUT, highlighting key practices, distinctive achievements, and the university’s strategic roadmap for future advancements in teacher training.

The second phase of the meeting was hosted by LI Guangping, who explained the purpose, tasks, methods and requirements of the inspection. The expert group conducted on-site exchanges with the heads of the relevant departments of SDUT on the issues of improving teacher-training students’ digital teaching literacy and deepening the collaborative education mechanism.

Throughout the evaluation period, the expert group adhered strictly to national accreditation standards. They conducted a comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth assessment of the three majors through various methods, including on-site visits, symposiums, individual interviews, and the rigorous review of academic archives and documentation.

On the morning of December 20, the Expert Group’s On-site Inspection Feedback Session was held. Attendees included the members of the expert panel; BO Cunxu, Vice President of the Shandong Provincial Institute of Educational Sciences; and university leaders LI Yuxia, CHEN Shengwei, CHEN Jing, PANG Qiuxiang, and ZHANG Shouheng.

Professor LI Guangping presided over the meeting. On behalf of the panel, he presented the collective feedback, affirming the preliminary work and significant progress achieved by the three participating majors. Following this, the leads of each specific accreditation group provided detailed evaluations, highlighting current strengths, identifying areas for improvement, and offering strategic recommendations for further development.

President LI Yuxia delivered a formal statement of commitment, noting that the expert group’s feedback was both objective and insightful, providing vital guidance for the university’s pursuit of high-quality development. She stated that SDUT fully accepts the feedbacks and will commit all necessary resources to address the recommendations, striving to elevate teacher education and talent cultivation to a new level. To achieve this, she emphasized four key mandates: adopting a problem-oriented approach by establishing a rectification ledger and a “three-level” accountability mechanism to transform identified issues into measurable achievements; strengthening institutional development by optimizing faculty teams according to the “Five Dimensions” of teacher education and refining “Three-in-One” collaborative systems; deepening curricular reform through the full implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) philosophy and modernized assessment methods; and fostering a culture of quality by enhancing internal assurance systems to ensure robust, whole-process monitoring and continuous improvement.

The opening and feedback sessions were attended by the heads of relevant university departments, the leadership teams and program coordinators of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, the School of Music, and the School of Physical Education, as well as the heads and faculty representatives of the three accredited majors.
